Flood warning for River Blackwater

The Environment Agency have issued the warning for the stretch from Landford to Wade Bridge.

Water levels in the River Blackwater are described as"very high"  however they are beginning to fall.

In the 12 hours before the warning was issued there was more than 38mm of rain recorded at Romsey.

Roads around the area and land are suffering from flooding.

The area around The Mill at Wellow is particularly prone flooding.

The Environment Agency say they'll continue to monitor the river and staff are working to keep it free of blockages.

Although there will be drier conditions today more rain is expected tomorrow raising concerns.

A flood warning has been issued for the River Blackwater.

FLOOD ALERTS:

Meanwhile flood alerts have been issued for two local rivers:

  • River Ebble and tributaries between Alvediston and Nunton. 
  • Upper Avon and tributaries between the village and Salisbury. 
  • River Bourne and tributaties between Aughton and Laverstock

The advice from the Environment Agency is to be prepared.
