A lorry called out to take away an untaxed car on the A36 developed an electrical fault.

On Thursday (16th January) Salisbury PC, Andy Windsor, stopped a car on the A36 in Petersfinger.

It turned out it was being driven with no insurance and had been untaxed since October 2019.

The car was then seized and a recovery vehicle arrived to take it away.

The car was pulled over on the A36 just outside of Salisbury

However, when it turned up it had an electrical fault and started smoking and police had to call for the help of Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue service.

Once the problem was sorted, they had to arrange for a new recovery vehicle to collect the untaxed car and another one to pick up the broken lorry!

The force say they did finally get it sorted and are encouraging drivers to check that your insurance, tax and MOT are all valid.
