Wiltshire councillor resigns after being elected MP

The member for Till and Wylye Valley won a seat in Nottinghamshire at the general election.

After becoming the Member of Parliament for a constituency around 180 miles away from his Wiltshire patch, Darren Henry will now no longer be serving Till and Wylye Valley

He has become MP for Broxtowe in Nottinghamshire after success at the election on the 12th December. 

According to his website, Darren lived and worked in the Broxtowe area in the 1990s when he was part of the RAF. and has since moved back after being posted for work. 

Wiltshire Council Leader, Cllr Philip Whitehead, said: 

"Given his commitments, this was a sensible decision, and I'd like to thank Darren for all his hard work in Wiltshire over the last few years and wish him all the best for the future.

A unitary by-election will take place in due course for the Till and Wylye Valley division and details of that will be confirmed soon."

Cllr Robert Yuill and Cllr Mike Hewitt will look after the area in the meantime.
