The clothing chain has confirmed to Spire FM what the future holds for the store.

Last May, the Salisbury branch of Topshop and Topman was listed as being 'earmarked for closure'.

Some stores, like Southampton and Andover, are now starting to have closing down sales.

But it's better news for the Old George Mall - in a statement, their parent company Arcadia have said:

"Our Topshop Topman Salisbury store remains open and is trading as normal."

We've had that statement clarified, with the company telling Spire FM that Salisbury has been REMOVED from their closure list.

Retail experts believe the trend by younger shoppers to favour online outlets has had some impact on trading.

Arcadia Group also entered into a Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA), which helped to shore up the business by paying off creditors - but it has meant some rent cuts for stores and branches closing to save money.

There's also been a well documented pensions crisis within the Arcadia Group, which is owned by tycoon Sir Philip Green and his wife Lady Tina Green.

They've pledged to pay into the pension funds to protect staff.
