The collision happened when a car apparently ran a red light on the A345 between Salisbury and Amesbury on Tuesday (21 January).

The road was cleared within minutes allowing drivers to continue their journey whilst Police officers continued their investigation.

One of the drivers was subjected to a drugs wipe by Police, which he failed for cannabis.

He was arrested and taken to Melksham Custody to allow the drug drive procedure to continue.

He has since been released under investigation whilst the blood sample is analysed.

HIGH POST CRASH: Both drivers escaped injury but one was arrested for failing a roadside drug test.

A/PS Simmonds from Wiltshire Police who attended the collision said:

"Both individuals who were involved in this collision were extremely lucky, in this incident no one was injured and cars can ultimately be replaced. This once again goes to show how easily crashes can occur and how we will continue to arrest those who drive over the limit for drugs or alcohol."

Any information on drink or drug drivers can be reported to Wiltshire Police on 101.
