Crackdown on speeding drivers in Collingbourne Kingston

More than 20 drivers have been caught exceeding the 30mph limit through the Wiltshire village.

Last Friday afternoon (24th January)  officers from Amesbury Police conducted speed checks alongside volunteers from Community Speedwatch.

The team were checking a 30mph residential area which is clearly displayed prior to entering the village.


  • 6 drivers were issued with words of advice about the speed they were driving.
  • 12 drivers will be issued with letters from the Community Speedwatch team.
  • 5 drivers were reported for excess speed in a 30mph zone - they may be prosecuted at a later date.

One person was reported after being clocked driving at 46mph.

One driver was 17mph over the limit.


In November a similar operation saw 17 drivers breaking the limit with Police warning at the time there would be more checks.

On Saturday checks were also carried out in Tidworth.
