A planning application has been submitted for land near to Rowbarrow and Salisbury District Hospital.

The site was listed by Wiltshire Council in 2017 as a possible location for future housing development and now the plan has taken a step forward.

Bellway Homes has submitted a planning application to build 92 houses and 16 flats just off Odstock Road.

It will also include:

  • 270 parking/driveway/garage spaces
  • A new publicly accesible park
  • A row of street trees to "provide a layer of visual screening" from the road
  • Access from Odstock Road

As part of the new development, a possible 43 of the 108 homes will be made available as affordable housing.

The statement says:

"The design concept for this proposal has been informed by the desire to create a high quality, new neighbourhood on the southern side of Salisbury. The site is intended to create a well-connected and thriving residential development, which responds sensitively to the hillside setting and vistas of Salisbury Cathedral."

The planning application states that Bellway Homes predict that Wiltshire Council will benefit from an additional £79,635 in Council Tax revenue per annum.

They also say it will create 304 jobs as a result of the proposed development.

HAVE YOUR SAY

Before submitting the application, Bellway sent out a leaflet to around 250 properties in the local community detailing the proposal and a layout of the new homes.

They were also encouraged to provide feedback.
