Stops in Downton, Bulford, Weyhill and Grateley are changing too.

The Post Office has started up the services to replace branches in those areas that have closed in recent years.

Newton Tony, Winterbourne Gunner and Downton's Moot Lane are being described as 'permanent stops' - with the van calling once a week for customers.

Another stop at Downton Crossroads is described as 'temporary', as the Post Office say they're 'continuing to search' for a longer-term facility.

The Post Office van is adding the following stops:

  • Downton - Moot Lane: each Friday morning 9.00 - 10.00am
  • Downton - The Bull Hotel: each Friday morning 10.05 - 11.05am
  • Newton Tony - Memorial Hall: each Friday afternoon 2.15 - 3.15pm
  • Winterbourne Gunner - next to Winterbourne Arms: each Tuesday 1.45 - 3.45pm, and each Friday 11.30am - 1.30pm
The Winterbourne Gunner stop will be in the car park next to the pub

These extra stops on the rounds for the mobile Post Offices will mean some changes have to be made in other locations.

Bulford Barracks will be getting a reduced service from now on, but there's more stops in Weyhill and a different time for Grateley.

Here's the alterations in full:

  • Bulford Barracks - Horne Road: NO SERVICE on Tuesdays, but stops will continue on Mondays and Thursdays 1.45 - 3.45pm
  • Weyhill - Rosebourne Garden Centre: Wednesday stop time changes to 3.00 - 5.00pm; services remain on Thursdays 3.00 - 5.00pm; and an EXTRA service on Fridays 3.30 - 5.00pm
  • Grateley - High Street: changing time on Wednesday to 12.15 - 2.15pm

The mobile services aim to restore a local postal service in areas they've been lost

The Post Office is asking what we think about the service and whether local stops, days and opening hours are right for the areas they're in.

We can have a say by contacting the Post Office via their website, quoting branch code 706546.

You can also email, post feedback to Freepost YOUR COMMENTS, by telephone 03452 66 01 15 or Textphone 03457 22 33 55.

The consultation will close on 27th February.
