Jennifer Rose Todd, 29 of Wick Lane in Downton, was charged with six counts of theft and two counts of making off without payment.

She has been jailed for 13 months after admitting to a number of offences.

As well as shoplifting, Todd also breached her previously-imposed Community Order, which was given to her because of her offending history.

Along with serving jail time, she was also ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge

PC Jack Billington, neighbourhood PC for Salisbury city centre, said:

"We are currently running Operation Vendor in Salisbury, which is proactive work by our Community Policing Team to target our prolific offenders, including shoplifters, who make life miserable for local businesses in the city centre.

We welcome this sentence, as Todd's offending has been going on for some time and our previous measures, including a Community Order, have not been successful."
