STORM CIARA: Winds reach above 90 mph at Salisbury Cathedral

The number was recorded yesterday (Sunday 9th February) during the stormy weather.

Salisbury Cathedral's anemometer showed speeds reaching up to 92.5 miles per hour at the top of the spire. 

Despite the strongest winds of 2020 so far, the Cathedral did not need to be evacuated, but they did have to close sightly earlier than normal to visitors.

The windy weather that Storm Ciara brought with it caused lots of damage across the county.

Lots of fallen trees were needed to be cut up and removed from roads around Wiltshire, with the council dealing with more than 100 of them

Meanwhile, many places were without power for hours due to the extreme conditions
