'Spring into Action' is a running, cycling or swimming event that anyone can complete with family, friends, or sporting club, in the comfort of their own home.

The Naomi House & Jacksplace virtual event begins today (Sunday 1 March) and runs all month.

  • To take part you need to register for just £10
  • Then decide what sport you'd like to do and set a personal mileage goal
  • You'll be raising money for Naomi House & Jacksplace

The events team at the charity have suggested some potential goals; run 31 miles in 31 days, cycle 300 miles in a month or swim five miles in March. These aren't compulsory distances, you can do as much or as little as you like.

There are some fundraising incentives to encourage you to find sponsors. If you raise £20, you'll get a branded Naomi House & Jacksplace buff. If you raise £40 you'll get a medal AND a buff.

Spring Into Action is a virtual sport event that's happening during March 2020 in aid of Naomi House Hospice.

Naomi House & Jacksplace, the specialist children's hospice charity based in Hampshire, created this event to encourage as many local people as possible to get active this spring, and raise vital funds to support seriously ill children and young adults.

Charlotte Patrick, Events Fundraiser for the hospice charity said:

"We know that scheduled events aren't for everyone and that for a lot of our supporters, a 5k fun run just isn't enough! So we listened and created 'Spring into Action' to try and appeal to as many potential supporters as possible."

"It's so easy to get involved; you could increase your gym visits, take part in more Park Runs, take on more home turbo trainer sessions or add more lengths to your weekly swim - however you choose to reach your goal, know that you'll be helping make a difference to the seriously ill children and young adults in our care."

Naomi House needs to raise £9.2 million each year in order to run a full service and deliver its plans; every single pound raised from 'Spring into Action' will support this. The charity receives less than 11% of its income from statutory sources, meaning that the vast majority of the charity's income comes from the generous donations of individuals, groups and companies. It is this dedicated fundraising that allows the hospices to continue to offer their services to families free of charge.
