98.5% of youngsters will be given a place at ONE of their preferred schools from this September.

The figures released by Wiltshire Council today (2nd March) show a slight rise on the 98% that got one of the schools they wanted last year.

And, if we break the figures down 94% are to be offered their FIRST preference - up 1% on last year.

Cllr Pauline Church, Cabinet Member for Children, Education and Skills said:

"I'm really pleased the numbers of young people who are being offered their preferences have risen again. This is such an important time for all our young people and to know they will be going to one of their preferred schools will be a great help to them and their families."

Parents who applied online can log on to find out their decisions today, while those who applied by post will have their results in the post over the next few days.

It looks like more and more parents are choosing to apply online, with the number doing it that way rising again to 97% this year, compared to 96% in 2019.

The results of online applications are available at Wiltshire Council website

Parents will need their user ID and password to access their decisions.

There were 4,917 applications received - down 64 on 2019.

This is due to the number of children transferring to secondary school in September 2020 being slightly less than in 2019.

The numbers are anticipated to be larger for the 2021 entry.

All applicants have until Monday 16th March 2020 to accept the offer they receive.

The right to an independent appeal is open to anyone who has not received an offer at their preferred school.

Details of how to appeal are included in the decision letter posted to all applicants.
