Reverend Nicky Davies has been sporting a yellow costume to help promote the push to become a Fairtrade Town.

An event, held at the Fordingbridge Town Hall on Saturday (29th February), included films, quizzes and stalls with Fairtrade products to buy.

Other activities were also held by Avon Valley Churches over the weekend, at the start of Fairtrade Fortnight.

Organisers have said it was a 'great and busy weekend', thanking those who came along to take part.

The event's also raised plenty of money towards the Fordingbridge Fairtrade Town campaign.

Over £170 of Fairtrade cakes were sold, plus a few extra donations, with £275 of Traidcraft goods picked up.

Reverend Nicky Davies said:

"Thank you to our Traidcraft team who worked so hard and to members of our Fairtrade Steering Committee for their support too. I think I caused quite some interest in my Fairtrade banana costume - people found me very 'a-peeling!'"

REVEREND NICKY MOVING ON

The success of the Fairtrade events comes as it's been announced that Nicky will be LEAVING the Avon Valley Benefice in a couple of months time.

She's been offered a role within the Diocese of Exeter as Team Vicar Designate in the Axe Valley Mission Community in Devon.

The Avon Valley Churches have said:

"It goes without saying that we wish (Nicky) every blessing in her new post, and that she will be terribly missed here - she feels she's being called by God to a new stage in her ministry, and we’ll be praying for her as she prepares to move, and as she begins her new post."

Reverend Nicky's last local service will be on Sunday May 31st at Breamore Church.
