Lorry hits Wilton railway bridge

It appears to have caused some damage to the brickwork on the bridge.

It struck the bridge earlier today (Wednesday 4th March), causing some delays. 

It's thought police arrived at the scene to direct the traffic and the vehicle was moved out of the road.

South Western Railway have confirmed that staff are en-route to examine the damage, with disruption expected until the end of the day:

"Due to receiving multiple reports concerning the damage to the bridge, all lines are currently blocked until we get the bridge inspected. "

Where possible trains will run between Salisbury and Yeovil Junction via Westbury

Replacement road transport has been requested to run between Salisbury and Yeovil Junction - details will appear on their website when that is confirmed
