Hampshire Constabulary are issuing some safety advice after a number of reports.

They are warning people living in East and West Wellow to protect themselves from becoming a victim of burglary.

It comes after they've had reports of suspicious people and vehicles in the area over the last few days.

They have issued the following advice:

  • Lock ALL doors, windows, outbuildings and sheds even if you are in the house
  • Install CCTV to capture activity on your premises
  • Leave all valuables out of sight, this removes the temptation
  • Make it look as if you are home if you aren’t by leaving a radio on, light timer switches etc
  • Shut all curtains and blinds at night.
  • Consider a house alarm, and set it every time you leave your property
  • Install motion lighting
  • Make it as hard as possible for a possible offender to get in and out of your property
  • Register an account at www.immobilise.com

They are also asking people living there to report any suspicious incidents to police, even if they don't think it is of any use.

They can be reported through 101 or online at: www.hampshire.police.uk/tua/tell-us-about/soh/something-youve-seen-or-heard/.
