The route will be affected while engineers from Network Rail are working to fix the landslip that's been blocking train lines.

Milford Mill Road remains CLOSED again today (Friday 6th March), as it has been throughout this week.

Wiltshire Council tell us that's for heavy machinery and equipment to be brought in and for plates to be put under the railway bridge.

The road is due to re-open again for the weekend.

FURTHER CLOSURES TO COME

Starting from Monday (9th March), the road will need be closed again between 6.00am and 6.00pm on weekdays.

It will be open at all other times, including weekends.

We're told those closures are likely to remain in place for the next month.

A roadworks notice on the One Network map suggests there's a contingency plan for the work to take even longer

There will still be access for people needing to get to the nursing home along that stretch of road.

WHY A ROAD CLOSURE?

It's so that Network Rail can get access to the area that's affected by the landslip.

They told us earlier this week that they're working on an 'interim solution' to get trains running on the line between Salisbury and Romsey once again.

The work involves putting in sheet steel piles to shore up the embankment.

Engineers are also waiting to access a field next to the train line to complete further repair works - as the field's been flooded.
