It has also updated the number of cases by each upper tier authority.

There are now eight cases in Hampshire County Council's area and one on the Isle of Wight.

No details of where the new cases or the age and sex of the people involved have been revealed at this stage.

Meanwhile Andover Leisure Centre has been closed today as a precaution.

A post on their website reads.

"Following a report from an individual who briefly attended Andover Leisure Centre yesterday afternoon to collect someone , they have subsequently been positively diagnosed with the Coronavirus.

"On the advice of Public Health England the centre is being closed as a precautionary measure for a deep clean. It is expected that the centre will close for a minimum of 24 hours. If you have any concerns or require further advice, please contact NHS 111 for further guidance. Details for reopening will be posted asap."

These are the things the NHS is asking to do, to avoid catching the illness:

    • Wash your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds
    • Always wash your hands when you get home or into work
    • Use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available
    • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze
    • Put used tissues in the bin straight away and wash your hands afterwards
    • Try to avoid close contact with people who are unwell
