Woman in 60s robbed in Salisbury car park

The incident happened at around 12:30pm on Saturday (7th March).

A woman in her 60s had parked in the Maltings car park when she was approached by a man asking her for change for the ticket machine. 

When trying to help him, he used sleight of hand to steal money from her purse

Police are now hoping someone might have seen the destruction theft take place. 

The suspect is described as: 

  • Olive skinned 
  • Around 6ft tall
  • In his late 30s or early 40s
  • Average build
  • Well-dressed

He also had a moustache and the victim felt he was pretending he couldn't speak English very well.

Sergeant Andrea Huntley, from Wiltshire Police, said: 

"We are not only appealing for witnesses but are also warning members of the public to be aware of this scam, so they can take steps to avoid falling victim to this type of crime.

If you were in the car park over the weekend and either saw this man or if you believe you may have been targeted in the same way, then please call us."
