The charity say the decision has been taken in light of the "spread of coronavirus" across the UK.

The charity announced shortly after 5pm today (13th March) on its Facebook page that the Pembroke Centre has temporarily closed "with immediate effect.."

"In light of the current news on the spread of the Coronavirus and due to the fact that we have very vulnerable people coming to the centre, we are temporarily closing the Centre with immediate effect.

We will continue to monitor the situation and will reopen when it is sensible to do so."

Wilton RDA caters for 140 riders with a range of disabilities.

Alexandra Boyd regularly visits the centre with her children and told Spire FM her family fully support the decision.

"We totally support the RDA will temporarily suspended riding as there are lots of children and adults mixing and also the animals. And to help contain the virus it is a very sensible thing to do from a parental point of view. We will be missing everyone but as soon as it is all ok to go ahead again we can enjoy our Saturday rides again ."

The centre's closure comes as new figures show 590 people across the UK have now been diagnosed with Covid-19.

Six of those cases are in Wiltshire with 16 now recorded in Hampshire.

10 people across the UK have died.
