CORONAVIRUS: Hampshire cases rise by 19

It comes as the number of cases across the UK rose by 407 from yesterday (Monday 16th March).

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Hampshire are now up to 77. 

That's an increase of 19 from yesterday. 

The numbers for Wiltshire haven't changed though, as they remain at nine.

The Department of Health and Social Care have announced:

  • There are now 1,950 confirmed cases in the UK
  • 65 patients have recovered from the virus in the UK
  • 71 people with coronavirus have died in the UK

ADVICE

These are the things the NHS is asking to do, to avoid catching the illness: 

  • Wash your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds
  • Always wash your hands when you get home or into work
  • Use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze
  • Put used tissues in the bin straight away and wash your hands afterwards
  • Try to avoid close contact with people who are unwell
