New date for Salisbury's Race for Men

The event was scheduled for June 14th, but has had to be postponed due to coronavirus fears.

The annual event at Hudson's Field aims to increase the awareness of prostate and testicular cancer amongst men, whilst raising money for the Stars Appeal, towards related services in Salisbury.

The Half Marathon, 10k and 3k fun run and will now take place on Sunday 23rd August.

In a statement organisers told Spire FM: 

"The health and well-being of our Salisbury community, and those runners that come from afar are the priority.

We have therefore set a new date for August 23rd 2020. We hope this will give the much needed time for things to start to settle back to normal"

They have also issued an update on social media:

For the first time in six years, women are being invited to take part.

  • Statistics show that prostate cancer is now the THIRD BIGGEST cancer killer in the UK
  • The number of men dying from the disease every year has overtaken that of women who pass away from breast cancer
  • One man is dying roughly every 45 minutes from prostate cancer
  • Experts say an ageing population is partly responsible - and are urging men to get routinely checked
  • 2020 is the first year that everyone can enter, men women and children.
