The measure has been taken in light of the Covid-19 outbreak across the country.

Fordingbridge Town Council says it's made the "difficult decision" to close public access to parks and outdoor recreational facilities within the town until further notice.

The move affects the following.

  • Fordingbridge Skate Park
  • Fordingbridge Recreation Ground: Children’s Play Area Only (the main area bordering the river and the Memorial Gardens will, for now continue, to have public access)
  • Queens Gardens Play Area
  • Whitsbury Road Play Area Flaxfields End Play Area
Fordingbridge Skate Park April 2019
The skate park is among the areas now closed.

An official statement from the local authority added

"The Government has asked everyone to stop non-essential contact with others and non-essential travel, which is also known as social distancing. This measure aims to reduce close contact with others."
