Wiltshire Police appeal for more hand sanitizer

The force is asking anyone who might be able to help them to get in touch.

All frontline officers and staff have been issued with hand sanitizer in the last couple of weeks to help protect them from the spread of coronavirus.

They're now asking for local companies that might have stocks that can't be sold now many stores are closed to pass it on to them.

UPDATE FROM WILTSHIRE POLICE

The force has confirmed that this appeal is NOT because they've run out of supplies.

A spokesperson said:

"Given the situation nationwide, we’re trying to make sure we have enough of all our protection equipment to keep staff and officers safe.

"Also, even if and when they don’t have access to hand sanitizer, officers and staff are obviously still able to wash their hands at police stations and touch-down points."
