The museum at Old Sarum Airfield has been shut for the foreseeable future due to Covid-19.

Following Government advice on social gathering and non-essential businesses during the coronavirus outbreak, the BDAC charity say they'll be keeping the site closed to the general public.

In a statement, they've said:

"Obviously, this is not a decision that has been taken lightly but in the final analysis, the trustees have a duty to protect (within their capability) visitors and staff when they are in the Collection. Indications from a large number of other museums indicate that this difficult decision is being mirrored by the majority of our contemporaries as well."

The museum would now have been operating on their summer opening times - Tuesday to Sunday.

BDAC's programme of events and presentations is also postponed for the time being.

Further details on when they could be rescheduled to will be updated in due course.

The charity's also said they've been well supported during this time;

"(We're) extremely grateful for the professional level of support provided by members during this unprecedented situation and look forward to the time when a semblance of normality is reached."
