Salisbury Medical Practice has had to temporarily shut two of its sites.

In a statement on its website the practice explained the decision.

"In order to maintain the delivery of essential services to our patients, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily close Wilton Health Centre and Bishopdown Surgery."

"To reduce the spread of infection all essential appointments are being centralised at Fisherton House."

Salisbury Medical Practice says it will continue to provide telephone appointments and home visits and is also looking at video consultations.

BEMERTON HEATH SURGERY

This is now a Respiratory Assessment Hub from Monday and will only deal with patients who have a pre-booked appointment.

"Patients who have been screened by our clinicians will be booked an appointment here if they have respiratory symptoms such as sore throat, runny nose, cold etc. This surgery will be closed to all patients who do not have a pre booked appointment."

PRECAUTIONS:

Salisbury Medical Practice says all patients visiting either Bemerton Heath Surgery or Fisherton House will be subject to further precautions.

The practice is urging patients "to minimise contact with the surgery as much as possible."

THANK YOU

The practice has thanked its patients for the ongoing support and kind messages stressing "this really does boost the morale of the whole practice team during this rapidly changing situation."

PLEA FOR PPE:

Like many surgeries around the country Salisbury Medical Practice is desperately short of personal protective equipment.

They've issued an appeal on social media
