When SMS Equestrian set up a Just Giving page to help care for and feed the animals, they didn't expect such a huge response.

However, after closing their doors due to the coronavirus outbreak last Monday (23rd March), they have managed to raise over their target amount in less than a week.

The Fovant-based business needed £2600 to feed the horses at the stables, with it set to be one of many companies affected the pandemic.

In just five days, 62 supporters helped to hit the total.

Owner, Sarah Mitchell-Sheppard, said:

"On the night of closure I posted a just giving page asking for £2600 towards the horse and ponies food and care whilst the centre is shut, I believed this would be something that continued for weeks and never for one minute did i think I would witness the kindness and generosity that we have seen; we appreciate everyone is going through a rough time financially and emotionally but our wonderful clients dug so deep and within just 5 days we have had 62 supporters and between them they have reached 100% of the target.

This is so emotional and warming for me to see what a close family we have built, it is not just about the riding for us or the clients, it is the partnership between us all and the love everyone shares for the horses they ride. The hugely generous donations have lifted such a weight for us and means the horses can have a well deserved rest with the best possible care and attention.

SMS family you are the best and words cannot express how grateful I am to you all!"
