The group was due to be holding one of its regular Street Swarms today (Saturday 4th April), but won't be venturing out.

XR Salisbury has been getting out on bikes and by foot, to campaign for the 'exclusion of private cars from the city centre'.

They've explained why that's important:

"This, we believe, will improve air quality and therefore people's health and well as making the city centre a safer and more visitor-friendly area."

They won't be gathering for today's Street Swarm due to the Government guidance on social distancing through the Covid-19 outbreak.

But the group say they're 'far from inactive' while their action's been postponed.

The weekly XR Salisbury meetings are been taken online.

Anyone's welcome to take part in those - email for more information.

Nationally, Extinction Rebellion is continuing activities to 'build a regenerative culture and promote wellbeing'.

Their #AloneTogether campaign is aimed at creating 'more robust communities' to cope with coronavirus and change the way people live once the crisis is over.
There's more about that on the national XR website.
