Employees from across the NHS Foundation Trust are doing whatever it takes to help in the effort to tackle the pandemic.

Our hospital is right on the front line of dealing with the outbreak, having to care for patients both with and without symptoms of the illness.

Their Medical Director, Dr Christine Blanshard says they couldn't be prouder of the way staff have really done their bit to help.

She says a lot of people at the Trust are being redeployed where possible:

"One of our lifeguards from the swimming pool is working in portering at the moment, we've got medical secretaries supporting procurement, some of our administrative staff are help with meal services to patients and so on."

There's been a huge effort to deal with the outbreak, with staff showing a 'bulldog spirit'

Salisbury District Hospital is one of the city's biggest employers, with staff there really proving their worth at this time.

They've already told Spire FM that they're coping well in caring for Covid-19 patients - with a huge increase in intensive care and respiratory beds available.

There are still spaces for seriously ill people who have coronavirus symptoms and the Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust has enough ventilators to support those who need them.

People across Salisbury have been showing their appreciation for NHS staff with signs and by taking part in the weekly #clapforourcarers each Thursday evening

Dr Christine Blanshard says they're delighted with the way everyone's 'mucking in' to do what's best to help others:

"I don't think there's been a single incident where we've asked a member of staff to work in a different way and they've declined. The response has been fantastic."
