Saffron on Wilton Road wanted to help frontline NHS workers to 'refuel them' for their long shifts.

The family-run Indian takeaway took a huge number of meals up to Salisbury District Hospital's Accident and Emergency Department yesterday (Saturday 11th April).

They're now promising to do the same every Saturday while the pandemic is ongoing.

Rowsonara Begum from Saffron said:

"So many businesses are not being able to remain open at this time, we are so grateful that we can. We wanted to do our part to help others in need. Seeing our NHS workers working long hours and putting themselves at risk on a daily basis without even having the opportunity to refuel with hot food during their shifts spurred us into action. This is our way of saying thank you and to show how much we appreciate what they are doing day after day."

Saffron is still open for deliveries, with orders placed over the phone and online.

The takeaway's said they're also keen to support other frontline workers wherever they can during the Covid-19 outbreak.
