Covid-19: Wiltshire cases over 700; Hampshire up by 53

Public Health England has released the latest case numbers by local authority region.


The latest figures published for Thursday (23rd April) show there are now 707 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the county.

That's a rise of 11 cases since Wednesday.

The figures for the county are broken down by local authority as follows:

  • Wiltshire Council area - 400
  • Swindon Borough Council area - 307


The number of cases recorded in the county now stands at 3,083.

That's an increase of 53 cases within 24 hours.

The figures are broken down as follows:

  • Hampshire County Council area - 2,371
  • Southampton City Council area - 398
  • Portsmouth City Council area - 238
  • Isle of Wight Council area - 76
Department of Health and Social Care release the updated figures daily


The total number of people across the UK that have tested positive is now 138,078 - an increase of 4,583 cases  in 24 hours.

Figures released today show the number of people to have died in hospital, that have tested positive, now stands at 18,738.

That's a rise of 616 deaths reported since yesterday.

Updated figures haven't been released for the number of people that have recovered from the illness.

No details of the number of people tested in each local area are released.
