SERV Wessex need your help covering fuel costs as they're now working 24/7 delivering vital medicines and supplies during the pandemic.

Since the beginning of April SERV Wessex increased its daytime service supporting NHS hospitals during the Coronavirus crisis.

  • Their daytime commitments have risen considerably
  • They are now completing over 25 jobs a day
  • They are covering around 400 miles
  • They only have a small charity fleet, so over 77% of the mileage is completed by volunteers using their own vehicles and paying all their own costs including fuel

DONATIONS TO 'KEEP THE WHEELS TURNING'

SERV Wessex have decided to put some funds aside to help with their volunteers fuel costs when on duty, but it's a one time pot. They've started a Virgin Money fundraising campaign to top up this pot.

WHAT DO SERV WESSEX & BLOOD RUNNERS DO?

They usually transport urgent deliveries of:

  • Blood for transfusion, platelets or other blood products
  • Blood, urine or other tissue samples for analysis by pathology and microbiology laboratories
  • Human Milk
  • X-rays, scans and CDs
  • Patient notes and other medical items

WHAT THEY'RE DOING NOW

They now provide a FULL service during the day and has now extended its work with Hospital Pharmacies on a daily basis by delivering much needed medication for vulnerable patients that cannot collect it themselves.

This means the NHS has access to their committed and highly trained volunteers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
