Households across the county are showing huge appreciation as the bins continue being emptied of rubbish and recycling during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Thank-you to Wiltshire's waste collection crews!

  • Those working in the waste and recycling business have been identified as key workers by the Government
  • The bin crews are continuing to work during the period of isolation
  • The national Thursday night 'Clap for Carers' at 8pm has also been extended to cover all key workers

Crews working for 'Hills' waste have been receiving handmade pictures, lovely messages as well as treats from Wiltshire residents saying thank you.

Hills Municipal Collections is the contractor responsible for collecting household waste and recycling across Wiltshire on behalf of Wiltshire Council.

Thank-you for creating the lovely 'heart-warming' community feeling

Nicola Towell, collection contract manager for Hills Municipal Collections, told Spire FM News:

"We have been touched to receive pictures, handwritten notes and social media posts saying thank you. The notes and pictures have been attached to bins, fences and walls and have thank you messages for our collection teams who are working hard under these difficult circumstances."

"Residents have been waving from windows and doorways to say thank you - without getting too close - and some of them have been so grateful to see a face and exchange a few words."
