The Stranger Things actress is helping a few hospitals on the South Coast, having lived here with her family.

The 16 year-old has donated £5,000 to Salisbury District Hospital's Stars Appeal charity, as well as Bournemouth and Southampton Hospital charities.

She has given the money to help support frontline NHS staff during the coronavirus pandemic.

Millie Bobby Brown said:

"Britain's NHS workers - and all carers - are an inspiration to us all and are the nation's heroes. I am in awe of every one of them and just wanted to thank those risking their lives - particularly in hospitals on the South Coast. The area is very dear to me and my family and I cannot wait to visit again soon. Keep up the brilliant work and stay safe. Thank you. You are all amazing."

So far the Stars Appeal has received over £70,000 in donations for their coronavirus fund.

The money goes towards helping patients and staff at the hospital in a number of ways, including:

  • Free Wi-Fi
  • Counselling for staff
  • Specialist simulation training
  • New equipment
  • Hospital chaplains
  • Treats for staff

Dr Duncan Murray, Intensive Care Consultant and Stars Appeal Ambassador said:

"The support offered by the Stars Appeal at this incredibly challenging time is more valuable than ever, but the lockdown restrictions have meant much of the charity’s normal fundraising has had to stop.

We are incredibly grateful to Millie Bobby Brown and her family for remembering their Salisbury roots and to everyone that is supporting the Stars Appeal, the hospital and my colleagues and I."
