At around 12:10pm this afternoon (Wednesday 6th May), the driver of a white Ford Fiesta failed to stop for officers on the A303.

The vehicle sped off along the eastbound carriageway before heading down the A338 towards Tidworth and then the A342 towards Andover.

When the car eventually came to a stop in Weyhill 10 minutes later, a 20-year-old man from Buckinghamshire was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop for police and possession with intent to supply Class B drugs.

Police seized a rucksack, which had been thrown from the vehicle, which contained large amounts of cannabis

He was taken to Melksham custody for questioning.

Det Con Ben Brewster, from Wiltshire Police‚Äôs Community Tasking Team, said:

"Despite the Covid-19 pandemics, we are continuing to apprehend and arrest those who come into Wiltshire with the intention of transporting and supplying drugs.

The driver in this case was obviously desperate to avoid officers, as he was driving in an incredibly reckless and dangerous way, reaching speeds of up to 90mph.

Thankfully, nobody was injured and the pursuit came to an end safely and relatively swiftly."
