The refuse trucks are helping make sure victims know help is available.

Six of the New Forest District Council's refuge lorries have been fitted with banners advising victims that 'You don't have to suffer in silence.'

The signs also provide contact details for the Hampshire Domestic Abuse Service.

Residents can call 0330 016 5112 or visit but in an emergency, or immediate danger should call 999.

Operating out of each of the Council's three depots, the lorries will ensure the message is seen across all areas of the district.
