Officers carried out their warrant yesterday (Thursday 14th May) following intelligence about suspected illegal activity.

Wiltshire Police and Wiltshire Council checked out the premises at around midday, after reports of illegal scrap metal dealing and stolen vehicles being on site.

While no criminal offences were identified, the authorities will still be investigating possible breaches of environmental health and planning rules.

Inspector Liz Coles from Wiltshire Police said:

"This is ongoing work with our partners to clampdown on rural crime in our county. We continue to work with the local community to identify any illegal activity in this area and would encourage anyone to report anything suspicious to us via 101 or the Wiltshire Police website.

Cllr Bridget Wayman, Wiltshire Council Cabinet Member for Highways, said:

"Officers from our Environmental Enforcement and Planning Enforcement Teams conducted a joint operation with the Environment Agency and police partners to investigate alleged scrap metal, waste and planning offences. This operation was intelligence led and the investigation continues."
