Stevie Boxall and Michelle Keast are doing their bit to keep the helicopter service in the air, by keeping their feet firmly on the ground!

The pair have set themselves a target of walking 400 kilometres around South Wiltshire during May.

They decided on their challenge after finding lockdown turned them towards 'eating really bad food and drinking quite a bit', and wanting to get into shape.

RAISING MONEY FOR IMPORTANT CAUSE

The women are being sponsored through their walks in aid of Wiltshire Air Ambulance.

That's a charity that's particularly close to Stevie's heart - as they helped both her brother and dad when each of them passed away unexpectedly.

Jamie Boxall died following a car crash 13 years ago, while Alan Boxall collapsed with a coronary artery thrombosis during a bike last year.

Stevie made it her New Year's Resolution to support Wiltshire Air Ambulance during 2020 in their memory, but some of her planned fundraisers have had to be called off due to Covid-19.

Stevie's told Spire FM more about her reasons for supporting them:

"They were on the scene (for both my dad and brother) and were amazing.  The charity is 100% donation based, and with all the raising money for the NHS I think they get a little forgotten about, but they are super important to Wiltshire!"

So far, the pair have covered over 250 kilometres towards their 400km target - and suffered blisters and swollen ankles as a result.

They've raised more than £420 for Wiltshire Air Ambulance, and are hoping to push that to £1,000 by the end of May.

Earlier this year, Stevie also raised £666 by completing Dry January for the same charity.
