COVID-19: Another patient dies at Salisbury District Hospital

52 people have now died at the city's hospital after having tested positive for the deadly virus.

The Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust have confirmed that there has been one more death from Coronavirus at Salisbury District Hospital.

It's the first death to be reported at the hospital after exactly a week has passed without any fatalities.

A spokesperson for Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust said:

"Sadly a total of 52 patients who had tested positive for COVID-19 have died at Salisbury District Hospital."

A woman in her eighties, with underlying health conditions, died on Thursday 21st May."

"Our thoughts and condolences are with the patient’s family and loved ones at this difficult time.”

NATIONAL FIGURES

A further 351 people, who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19), have died in all settings across the UK.

That brings the total number of confirmed reported deaths to 36,393.

CASE NUMBERS IN WILTSHIRE AND HAMPSHIRE:

The number of confirmed cases, as of 4.09pm on Thursday 21st May, in Wiltshire stands at 958.

This is made up as follows,

  • Wiltshire Council area - 515
  • Swindon Borough Council - 443

The number of confirmed case in Hampshire now stands at 4,269.

Those figures are made up as follows,

  • Hampshire County Council - 3,206
  • Southampton City Council - 569
  • Portsmouth City Council - 313
  • Isle of Wight Council - 181

The number of cases reported for each Upper Tier Local Authority may fluctuate as the figures are revised by Public Health England.

They may be changed due to multiple tests being carried out for one person being listed separately, for instance.

The figures include patients who are currently unwell, those who have recovered and those who have died – but does not include people who may have Covid-19 but haven’t been tested.
