Due to the dry, warm and windy weather, Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue's received an AMBER alert.

    • An AMBER ALERT means that if a wildfire were to break out, it could spread quickly and easily
    • Wildfires take a great deal of resources and time to bring under control
    • Please stay fire-aware when out and about and please stay vigilant

The effects of a wildfire are all too clear to see after a devastating blaze ripped through Wareham Forest in Dorset last week.

Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service is urging you NOT to have bonfires or barbecues this weekend due to the increased risk of wildfires.

The New Forest has already been placed on a 'Severe' fire warning this week ahead of the bank holiday weekend.

The National Park Authority fears a wildfire could easily happen in the New Forest which is internationally-protected because of its rare wildlife and habitats.

National Park Authority rangers, the Police and New Forest District Council staff will be patrolling over the bank holiday.
