Man charged with assaulting police officer in Salisbury

The officer was left with cuts and bruises following an incident in Blackfriars Way.

Officers were called to the area on Thursday (28th May) following a report of a disorder.

Leon Lewis, 21, of no fixed address, Salisbury, was arrested and charged with the following offences:

- Two counts of assaulting an emergency officer
- Cause a nuisance/disturbance on NHS premises
- Two counts of criminal damage 
- Obstructing/resting arrest

He has been released on unconditional bail and is due to appear at South East Wiltshire Magistrates Court on June 26.

The officers assaulted suffered cuts and bruises but remained on duty.
