Neighbours have rallied around the young siblings following the tragedy in Wessex Road.

The children, who are just 5 and 6 years old, are understood to have been in the house when their mum, Aneta Zdun and older sister Nikoleta were killed on Monday (1st June).

Their father, 39 year-old Marcin Zdun, has been charged with two counts of murder.

Neighbours Janice and Nick Maher looked after the little girls in the immediate aftermath and wanted to do their bit to help the pair in the future.

They orginally set up a fundraising page on Facebook which hit over £2000 in donations, but due to a technical difficulty that page was taken down and every donater was refunded.

Now, a new one is up and running and people can donate to that here

Janice's daughter, Faye, told Spire FM

"My mum looked after the children while that tragedy was happening and they haven't got family over here as far as we know, so we just want to get some money for them there, for when they're older, so they've got something to fall back on.

We've set a target of £20,000 on the page but at the rate the page is going I'm hoping we will succeed that and much more."

Meanwhile, a gofundme page has been set by a cousin of Aneta's father, who wants to raise enough money to fly their bodies back to their native Poland

Rafal Rybinski also wants to use the fund to fly the 2 daughters back to be with their family.
