Officers from Wiltshire Police joined the Ministry of Defence Police to carry it out.

Members of the Neighbourhood teams from Amesbury and Warminster were patrolling across the east and west sides of Salisbury Plain on Sunday (21st June).

They were aiming to carry out crime prevention work and try to stop any illegal activity taking place there.

Police say they handed out a number of fixed penalty notices in relation to trespass offences and unlicensed vehicles.

PC Richard Salter, from the Warminster Area CPT, said:

"We regularly work alongside our colleagues at the MOD Police to tackle ongoing issues on Salisbury Plain, particularly around illegal off-roading and hare coursing.

Obviously, the plain covers a large area, so these days of action allow us to carry out targeted patrols and ensure there is a visible policing presence."

Police are now making sure people know what parts of the plain are accessible to the public.
