The BID have released a video as we are all being encouraged to support our local independents.

Many of Salisbury's non-essential retailers reopened their doors once again last week (15th June), after being unable to trade during lockdown.

As customers were allowed back, we were being asked to #ShopSalisbury in order to make sure our independent businesses have the best chance of surviving.

Now many stores have come together to record a poem about shopping in the city.

The video features Ellie from Smith England, James from The Therapy Centre, Susi from Casa Fina, Jan and Nat from OSOboutique, Sarah from Conker, Charles from Pritchetts Butchers, Jason from Regent Tailoring and Rachel from Tribbecks Jewellers and was made by local video content maker Carlton Brunton.

Salisbury BID reported a "strong first week of trading" for the city's businesses, with footfall rising 52% compared to the week before.

Not all stores have reopened yet but you can find a full list of the ones that have by visiting salisburybid.co.uk/shop-salisbury.

From the 4th July, more places will be welcoming people back.

Boris Johnson has given the following places the go ahead:

  • Hotels, B&B's, holiday homes and campsites
  • Restaurants, cafes, pubs and bars
  • Cinemas, museums, galleries and bingo halls
  • Hair salons and barbers
  • Libraries and community centres
  • Places of worship
  • Outdoor playgrounds and gyms

The BID have issued advice for any store planning to open on the 4th
