Impact MMA moved into a new site in Old Sarum earlier this year, just before lockdown.

But the financial impact of the outbreak has meant they have had to hand back the keys to the building already.

They received no help from from the council and were unable to get any grants or funding, so their income has been minimal.

The only money they were getting was from members who kept up their standing orders.

On Tuesday (23rd June), the government announced that a number of industries could start to reopen, but gyms was not one of them.

Currently, there is no date set on when they will be able to open their doors again.

Joe Taylor, who runs Impact MMA, posted on their Facebook page:

"Of course this will not be the end of Impact MMA, as I have no other skills and fear I would perish very quickly. Once the cuddling ban is lifted, worst case scenario, we take a step back and find another hall to hire until it’s feasible once again to find a suitable building to lease.

I would like to not have to do that though, as that would really be a stinging Roger, especially as we had come so close to establishing ourselves properly. The unit is still available to us, and would appreciate any help/guidance to be able to move forwards with the lease."

Joe is now, and will continue, running outdoor sessions Monday to Friday in order to keep their members active.

SAVE THE GYM

Impact MMA have now set up a Just Giving page to help them reopen.

They've set a target of £10,000 as that's what they would have received from Government funding.

You can donate to the page by visiting justgiving.com/crowdfunding/impactmma.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT

One of Joe's clients, Denis Denchev is using his skills to try and help the gym.

As a website developer, Denis is hoping to help Impact MMA by helping others.

He is asking anyone who is need of a website being created to get in touch with him, and then any money he makes will go to Joe and the gym.

You can find out more by visiting his website denchdev.co.uk.
