As part of their desert trek to Petra next April, the 49 trekkers have to raise £1650 for the charity.

As the Covid-19 pandemic has led to many of their events being cancelled, some of the walkers are finding new ways to fundraise.

Things like bingo evenings and garden parties have been replaced by travel quizzes and auctions

As they are currently training for the challenge, many are hard at work coming up with new creative ways to push them towards their target.

GUESS THE LOCATION

In May, Lynne Rose from West Grimstead set up a travel quiz full of photos from the trekkers' other journeys.

People were able to enter for a small fee and have to guess the location of the photo, with £100 given to the winner.

They were able to raise over £1,000

BIG HOME BIKE RIDE

Salisbury man David Cable is embarking on a big endurance challenge with a twist.

Right from his shed, David is cycling the equivalent distance of coast-to-coast across the US, wearing full PPE.

That's a total of 2800 miles

HEAD SHAVE

Dawne Dawes from Winterbourne Gunner managed to raise over £1,800 by giving promising to give herself a popular lockdown look.

She had her head shaved by her friend Julia:

BID FOR A BREAK IN DEVON

Organised by Melanie Cusack from Harnham, a team of trekkers have set up an online auction to raise some funds.

We can bid on things like a weekend break in devon, a day of fly-fishing or arts and crafts from local makers

The event runs until 31st July, visit facebook.com/HJMPetraTrek to see more.
