Cameron and Polly Jacobs took on their longest ever distance to raise money for Salisbury Area Young Musicians.

14 year old Cam, who goes to Grateley House School, and his GP mum Polly, made their way along the 35 mile route from Salisbury Cathedral to Christchurch Priory on Saturday (18th July).

It took them 6 hours 40 minutes in total.

The pair were joined along the way by friends who ran a portion of the journey with them while keeping to social distancing measures.

The pair had a bit of moral support along the way, as it was their longest run ever!

Polly told Spire FM:

"We are both feeling very happy to have completed our challenge. Neither of us had ever run anything like this distance before! My legs were a bit achy on Sunday, especially going up and down stairs, but Cameron was already running around the garden yesterday!"

FUNDRAISER FOR SAYM

The Jacobs completed their challenge in support of Salisbury Area Young Musicians, which Cameron is a member of.

On their Crowdfunder page, Cam explains why he wanted to help them:

"Salisbury Area Young Musicians has given me a place to have fun, make friends and enjoy fantastic music making. It is a place where I was welcomed when I was going through some really difficult times. I think it is very important to support SAYM in this really challenging time."

Cam enjoyed the 34 mile run and was even active the following day - unlike his mum!

They've raised more than £1,400 so far, with their online donation page still open.
