Man arrested after four car collision in centre of Downton

The incident happened yesterday afternoon (Sunday 19th July) at the Iron Bridge pinchpoint.

A black Vauxhall Corsa is believed to have collided with a black Ford Fiesta being driven in the opposite direction and two parked cars at around 4.10pm.

The car came to a stop when one of the vehicles it collided with, struck a house on The Borough, causing some brickwork damage.

The collision happened on The Borough on Sunday afternoon

MAN CHARGED

Wiltshire Police tell us one man was arrested in Downton shortly after the incident.

19 year old Joshua Archer from Fordingbridge has now been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with what happened.

FIREFIGHTERS MAKE SCENE SAFE

During the collision, the external gas pipe of a house was damaged.

Crews from Salisbury and Fordingbridge went along to ensure that no gas was leaking out.

They confirmed the scene was safe just after 5.00pm.

Both crews were back at their home stations by 5.30pm.
