The authority have had a few issues trying to get the engine out in emergencies.

There is a plea from Tisbury Fire Station to take time to think before you park on the road outside.

Where there are double yellow lines on the high street opposite the post office, often the fire service have to wait for people to move their cars, as they can't pull out from The Avenue.

The District Commander for South West Wiltshire, Richard Humphrey, says this adds on valuable time when they're responding to an emergency call.

He told Spire FM:

"We have some issued with when The Avenue meets the High Street near the convenice store, people are parking on double yellow lines and over the course of the past few days we've had some difficulties getting access up that hill.

It's a problem because it increased our attendance times so the consequences of being a couple minutes longer than usual can be bad, we can do a lot in those few minutes.

This is a service wide issue and we want to start a bit of education around it. It's just about taking those extra 30 seconds or a minute to consider where you park so access in enabled at all times."

They are working with the parish council and the area board to try and sort the issue, as people shouldn't be parking on double yellow lines.

Richard has also encouraged people to spread the word on social media so that people know what the consequences of their actions can be.
