Church Road will be shut until Friday 7th August while Wiltshire Council carries out work there.

The closure's come into effect from today (Monday 27th July) between the Woodland Way and Bishop Mead turnings.

The road's being shut 24 hours a day throughout the work - but access is still available for residential properties and the arcade of shops there.

WHAT'S BEING DONE?

Wiltshire Council contractors are carrying out the work, saying they're doing 'cushion replacement works'.

That's work on the speed bumps that sit along Church Road.

They've said the speed cushions have fallen into 'poor condition' and are replaceable as they are reinforced concrete pads which are lifted into position and sit on top of the road surface.

The work's being carried out now while the schools have broken up for the summer, to minimise traffic disruption.

Signposted diversion routes are in place for drivers needing to get around the road closure.
