Year 6 pupils at Harnham Juniors have said goodbye to the school with a special socially distant performance.

It's been a strange year for the Class of 2020, with lockdown and huge changes to the ways they can take part in learning.

Normally, the school would have held events for the leavers to round off their time at Harnham, but instead, they've danced in the school field!

The students learned their dance to be part of a Leavers' video

The children performed their own version of Queen's 'Don't Stop Me Now', learning a socially distant routine.

That was then filmed from a drone flying above them.

The dance was part of the Year 6's Leavers' Assembly, which was sent out to parents, pupils and staff as videos.

Here's their rendition of the Queen classic (fast forward to just after 10 minutes in):

The videos also include reflections from the teachers and children on their time at Harnham Juniors, pictures from their time and messages from people within the school to take them forward.

Headteacher Luke Coles talked about the importance of making sure the Covid-19 situation doesn't define this part of their education and said:

"Be bold and be kind as you move onto the next exciting chapter."

Chair of Governors David Stone also took the chance to thank staff for their 'hard work, innovation and dedication' throughout lockdown, paying tribute to the 'new ways' the school had found to maintain learning and stay connected with pupils in recent months.
